RSVP COLLECTION IN MARCH

Each year the Council collects donations to support one Seminarian and one Novice Sister of St. Joseph. The collection in the past has been at Wawa. Last year Wawa management decided to limit the time organizations collect each day in front of their stores. We can now only collect between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This does not give us enough time to achieve our goal of $1,000. I am currently in the process of securing a second location where we can collect additional funds. At this time I do not have a date for the Wawa collection or the new location. When I set the dates, which should be in March, I will post them on an email. If you do not have email and want to help, please call me and I will give you the dates.

DISABILITIES COLLECTION DATE IS SET

As you all know each spring we collect donations in front of both Acme Supermarkets in Maple Shade to help those with Intellectual Disabilities. This year the collections will take place the weekend of April 16th, 17th and 18th. I am asking all Knights who can spare an hour or two to volunteer at either Acme. The hours will be from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM each day. That is a total of 27 hours at each store. In past years we have had trouble getting members to fill all of these hours. The organizations that receive the proceeds from this weekend depend on financial support from organizations like ours. Our First Principle is “Charity”, this is what we do. Remember back when you joined the Knight’s. You probably needed just a little push to get you to come forward and fill out the Form 100. If you have never volunteered for this event in the past, you might need that little push. Well I am pushing. I need you to call me and let me know where and when you can help this year. The first year I volunteered I was not sure about doing it but once I got there and put on the apron I was glad I did. You will meet many people who have friends or relatives who benefit from this collection. I always have people come up to me and thank me for doing this. If you don’t want to stand there by yourself, talk to a brother Knight or friend and schedule a time when both of you will be there.

This year I want to have our schedule filled at both stores but I can only do this if you help me. As I stated there are people counting on us to support them. Please schedule an hour or two. You will be glad you did.

COUNCIL FAMILY OF THE YEAR

At a special meeting January 18th we honored the Kohler Family as our Council 5714 Family of the Year. Brian Kohler is one of our Outside Guards and our Council Youth Director. Brian also is a member of our First Degree Team. Brian’s wife, Molly, is our current Columbiette’s President. The past few years Molly has been the go to person whenever the Council needs help with preparing food for an event. Their daughter Jessica is also a Columbiette and Brian Jr. is a member of our Squire Circle and Past New Jersey State Officer. They truly earned the title and I was proud to name them “Family of the Year”.
